Little Jewel (Le Petit Bijou)

The main protagonist of this novel is the young girl Thérese who was left by her mother as a child. Since she has several photos of her mother, one day at the subway station she saw an older woman in a yellow coat, and the young girl thought it was her mother. Thérese begins to follow the unknown woman. In the process of searching, old childhood wounds open up.

The novel is full of emotions. As a side story, it has a love story between Théresa and a young polyglot and a story about a friendship with a pharmacist.

Another great novel by Patrick Modiano.

"I answered without hesitation, but it was like with words you learn by heart in childhood-prayer or the words of a poem that you recite from beginning to end, never understanding their meaning."

Patrick Modiano is a French novelist born in 1945. He is the winner of the Grand Prize of the French Academy, the Goncourt Prize for the novel Rue des boutiques obscures and the Nobel Prize for Literature in 2014.
