Chronicles: Volume One
“I'm a rambler, I'm a gambler, I'm a long way from home.” It’s a sentence Dylan uses to describe himself.
Bob Dylan, one of my favorite musicians, in his autobiography describes his life path from an early age. He also describes the people who left a strong impression on him and vividly depicts the events that marked him as a person. From a young age, Dylan has been in close contact with people from public life: musicians, philosophers, dancers and others eager for good music. Left to his own since he was a teenager, he describes in details the people who greatly indebted him, giving him a roof over his head. Free-spirited, at the beginning of his music career, Dylan faces injustice in the form of the success of those who had family influence. But apart from that, at the age of 19, Dylan decides to write songs and perform them on his own. Greenwich Village meant the center of the world for artists in the 1960s, and Dylan was no exception.
Dylan has written another book called Tarantula whose description is due next week.
“Songs are like the dreams you try to make come true. They are like unknown countries you have to enter. The song can be written anywhere: in a compartment, on a boat, on a horse - movement helps. Sometimes people with the greatest gift for songwriting never write any because they don't move.”
"It was closed and flammable, longing - lonely and isolated. Hundreds of miles of pain were invested in it."
See you on Tuesday!
